The University of Calgary Marathon Training Program is a highly informative and social marathon preparation program that combines research-based information, guidance and support with the help of internationally respected experts from the Canadian Sport Institute, the Faculty of Kinesiology and other disciplines.

Included in your registration:

  • 7 months of dedicated coaching (March – October)
  • Year long membership to the team and group runs from March – February
  • Movement preparation training
  • Access to our private website for interactive web based learning and communication
  • Lectures from some of the leading experts in the areas of physiology, nutrition, injury prevention and sport psychology
  • Strength and Core training
  • Full and half marathon training schedule
  • Team running singlet
  • Running log book
  • Organized social events

Participants of this program will have the opportunity to meet and train with a group two times per week.  Coached runs will take place on Mondays at 6:30pm and Saturdays at 8:00am.

Our destination race for 2016 is the Dublin Full Marathon on October 30th, 2016. We will also have a secondary target race with training programs for the Victoria GoodLife Half and Full Marathon in Victoria, BC on October 9th, 2016. Traditionally, our target race has been the Honolulu Marathon and we will still provide a training program for this race as many of our runners still like run this race – year after year!

This program is designed with the new marathoner in mind but runners with marathon experience will certainly benefit from the vast amount of information provided.

*Participants must be able to run 30 minutes, 3x per week before joining the program.  If you need a hand building a running base, we have a Getting Started package available for $49.
