The Calgary Be Fit for Life Centre
Be Fit For Life Centres are located in nine college and university campuses across Alberta. We are an active member of the Alberta Active Living Partners, a group of 14 organizations that collaborate through programs, services, research, and advocacy to help Albertans be physically active.
Specifically, in Calgary our focus is in the area of Children and Youth and we offer a variety of resources and professional learning opportunities in the area of physical activity and physical literacy.

Leah Yardley is the Coordinator of the Be Fit For Life Centre at the University of Calgary. She holds a Kinesiology degree and is a CSEP Certified Exercise Physiologist. Leah is a Fundamental Movement Skills Community Leader Facilitator through the National Coaching Certification Program. She is passionately involved in the promotion of health and wellness to the surrounding community and has a deep dedication to the future health of people today.

Physical Literacy Coordinator,BFFL
Ashley Fox is the Be Fit For Life Physical Literacy Coordinator at the University of Calgary. She holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree with a major in Mind Sciences and is a CSEP – Certified Exercise Physiologist. Ashley also recently completed her certificate in Integrative Health Coaching from Mount Royal University. Her passion and expertise for promoting physical activity and wellness lead her to becoming a Learning Facilitator for the NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills workshops. She enjoys the benefits of activity by running, biking, skating, and golfing.

Communications Coordinator, BFFL
Megan McKinlay is the Be Fit For Life Network Communications Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, majoring in Mind Sciences. Megan also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education, with specialization in Health & Physical Education, Science, and Special Education. Megan is a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer as well as a Learning Facilitator for the NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills workshops. She is University of Calgary Dino’s soccer alumni and continues to be active through soccer, running, and playing tennis.
The BFFL Network
The Be Fit For Life Network is a provincial initiative comprised of nine regional centres, working in coordination to support a more physically active Alberta. The Network is supported by operational funding from the Recreation and Physical Activity Division of Alberta Culture and Tourism and by additional project grant funding from Alberta Sport Connection and Sport Canada. Each Centre is located within and works in partnership with a College or University across the province.
Vision: Albertans are knowledgeable, confident, motivated and have the skills they need to engage in physical activity for life.
Mission: Work collectively to inspire, educate and support Albertans to lead healthy, physically active lifestyles.
The Be Fit For Life Network aligns their work with the Active Alberta Policy. The Network’s work in promoting physical activity to Albertans links closely with the following outcomes: Active Albertans, Active Communities, Active Outdoors, Active Engagement, and an Active Coordinated System.
